Born and raised on Chicago's south side, Chris Rob has established himself as a renowned keyboard wizard, passionate vocalist, powerful songwriter, and go-to producer for film and television. On his latest album "The Mistletoe Effect", he shows off his hometown roots by effortlessly fusing R & B vocals and proficient jazz piano riffs with twists of electro funk, soulful hip-hop, and deep house music.
Chris Rob currently composes music for the Netflix series "The Upshaws" starring Mike Epps, Kim Fields, and Wanda Sykes, and most recently scored the new critically acclaimed Netflix documentary "Outstanding: A Comedy Revolution". His arrangement of "Young, Gifted, & Black" was featured on McDonald's "Black & Positively Golden" national campaign, while his single "Sex. Money. & Drugs", from his album "Mental Notes" was also featured in Tyler Perry's film "Peeples".
In addition to his own enthusiastic live performances, Chris Rob supports as a writer and music director for his older brother, comedian/actor/musician Craig Robinson, and has performed with many R & B legends including Stevie Wonder, Roberta Flack, Nile Rogers and Anita Baker, as well as hip-hop phenomenons including CL Smooth, Talib Kweli, and Rakim. He also served as music director for John Legend's 'Get Lifted' Tour.
Chris Rob has also become a familiar face after appearing on various television shows such as Celebrity Family Feud, NBC's The Office, The Grammy Awards, Celebrity Apprentice, and Last Comic Standing, on which he wrote and performed a live skit. His goal is to first and foremost connect to his audience, using genuine soul music and heartwarming lyrics to tap into their souls.
